Mason Cash ® originated in a pottery factory operating in the village of Church Gresley, at the heart of the English ceramic industry in 1800. The pottery became world-renowned for producing kitchen items made from their distinct ‘white and cane’ glazed earthenware. The pottery was run by a series of Master Potters of whom the most colorful was William ‘Bossy’ Mason. During the 1800’s the pottery was named after him, and when Tom Cash acquired it in 1901, he renamed it Mason Cash & Co. Although Mason Cash ® had produced mixing bowls during the 1800s, in 1901 they designed and manufactured the very first iconic Mason Cash ® mixing bowl. The bowl’s design has endured the test of time and has become something of a design classic. In fact, the design has barely altered since then, which is why the brand is still renowned for its innovative, classic kitchenware today.

KEY DESIGN FEATURES

Originally designed in the Victorian era, the English pudding must be sealed before steaming. The rim of the Mason Cash ® All Purpose Bowl is shaped for this purpose. The vented base of the all purpose bowl allows bubbles to escape from underneath the basin, preventing it from tipping over in a pan. The classic shape of the bowl allows easy release of the pudding after steaming, giving an English pudding its distinct shape.
