Mason Cash originated in a pottery operating at Church Gresley in the heart of the English ceramic industry in 1800. The pottery became world renowned for producing kitchen items made from their distinct ‘white and cane’ glazed earthenware. The pottery was run by a series of Master Potters of whom the most colourful was William ‘Bossy’ Mason. During the 1800’s the pottery was named after him, and when Tom Cash acquired it in 1901, he renamed it Mason Cash & Co. Although Mason Cash had produced mixing bowls during the 1800s, in 1901 they designed and manufactured the very first iconic Mason Cash mixing bowl. The bowl’s design has endured the test of time and has become something of a design classic. In fact, the design has barely altered since then, which is why the brand is still renowned for its innovative, classic kitchenware today.

First developed in 1901, the iconic Mason Cash Mixing Bowls are made from high quality, chip-resistant earthenware making them heavy enough to stay still when mixing, yet light enough to hold comfortably in one arm. The distinct patterned exterior and rim of the bowl is designed to help bakers grip and tip the bowl and has become synonymous with the brand and baking ever since. Great British Design Icon.

The bowls are as relevant today as they were in 1901 and have endured the test of time to become something of a design classic.

The sizes of Mason Cash Mixing Bowls were used historically to refer to how many can fit on a shelf in a kiln when manufacturing. There’s a bowl size to suit any task. The size 4 is designed for large batches of dough, whereas a size 42 is designed for mixing sauces or storing ingredients. The size 12 is a good all-rounder for bread, pastry, cookie or cake mixes.

Original Cane Ovenware is made from durable stoneware, which warms up gradually to give improved heat distribution. For best results, dishes should be placed on flat trays in ovens for a more even bake, so each piece features air vents on the underside of the base for enhanced heat distribution. The steep sides of the dishes allow for more consistent heat distribution from all sides, and the thick rims allow for easier handling. The pie dish features embossed interior for easier pastry release, and the embossed rims help prevent pastry from sinking back into the dishes.

The 3-in-1 Mason Cash Varsity Roller Shaker incorporates a flour shaker, pasty measure and rolling pin. Simply remove the bung at one end of the rolling pin fill with the desired amount of flour then roll out pastry and shake flour for dusting whenever required.
