Mason Cash originated in a pottery operating at Church Gresley in the heart of the English ceramic industry in 1800. The pottery became world-renowned for producing kitchen items made from their distinct ‘white and cane’ glazed earthenware. The pottery was run by a series of Master Potters of whom the most colorful was William ‘Bossy’ Mason. During the 1800’s the pottery was named after him, and when Tom Cash acquired it in 1901, he renamed it Mason Cash & Co. Although Mason Cash had produced mixing bowls during the 1800s, in 1901 they designed and manufactured the very ™rst iconic Mason Cash mixing bowl. The bowl’s design has endured the test of time and has become something of a design classic. In fact, the design has barely altered since then, which is why the brand is still renowned for its innovative, classic kitchenware today.

First developed in 1901, Mason Cash Mixing Bowls are made from high quality, chip-resistant earthenware making them heavy enough to stand when mixing, yet light enough to hold comfortably in one arm. The distinct patterned exterior and rim of the bowl is designed to help bakers grip and tip the bowl and has become synonymous with the brand and baking ever since. The wide, shallow shape also allows for kneading within the bowl if required. Great British Design Icon.

The bowls are as relevant today as they were in 1901 and have endured the test of time to become something of a design classic.

O R I G I N A L C A N E Mixing Bowls

The sizes of Mason Cash Mixing Bowls were used historically to refer to how many could ™t on a shelf in a kiln when manufacturing. There’s a bowl size to suit any task. The size 4 is designed for large batches of dough, whereas a size 24 is ideal for cookie dough. The size 12 is a good all-rounder for bread, pastry or cake mixes.

K E Y D E S I G N F E A T U R E S Originally designed in the Victorian era the pudding must be sealed before steaming. The rim of the Mason Cash All- Purpose Bowl is shaped for this purpose. The vented base of the all-purpose bowl allows bubbles to escape from underneath the basin, preventing it from tipping over in a pan. The classic shape of the bowl allows easy release of the pudding after steaming, giving an English pudding its distinct shape.
